Library Wall & French Door Room Divider

Verenini Family | April 2022

This project began with an open-concept bonus room that needed definition and functionality. The Veronini family wanted to separate the space and add both storage and visual interest—so we designed a custom solution that does all of the above. By building a central wall with French doors and wrapping it in custom-built shelving, we turned a blank wall into a stunning architectural feature.

This was only our second project ever as a company, so it was an exciting and formative experience for us. The job kicked off in April 2022 and was completed in just three weeks.

It took place in a beautiful Fort Mill neighborhood and was done for the Veronini family, who were fantastic to work with. In addition to the aesthetic goals, another main purpose of the project was to create a private room on the other side of the bookshelf wall, giving the family flexible use of their home.

Design Details

The transformation started with framing the new wall, carefully planned and executed so that the French doors would be perfectly centered on the three back windows, maintaining visual symmetry from both sides of the space. Once the opening was prepped, we installed the French doors and began constructing the surrounding built-in shelving.

Each section of the built-in was custom cut and assembled on site, wrapping around the doors and extending from wall to wall, floor to ceiling. Open cubbies were spaced evenly to provide a balanced, functional design that could handle books, framed photos, or decorative pieces. We also included overhead shelving above the doors to complete the structure and make full use of the wall’s height.

The final coat of crisp white paint tied the built-in into the home’s trim and contrasted beautifully with the blue walls and dark wood floors. The result is a timeless, clean look that feels like it was always part of the home’s original plan.

Fixtures & Appliances

The French doors were sourced from Wayfair, and all lumber, trim, and built-in materials came from Lowe’s. We used high-quality paints from Sherwin-Williams to ensure a smooth, durable finish that would last for years.

Project Overview

This project will always hold a special place in our story. Being one of our first jobs, it challenged us to think creatively and build confidently, and the result exceeded everyone’s expectations.

The Veroninis were extremely happy with the finished product, and we were proud to bring their vision to life. What was once a blank wall is now a functional showpiece—and a great example of how thoughtful design and craftsmanship can completely change a space.
